Cold bathing & ice bathing at Lake Weissensee
Not for hot showers! From September, Lake Weissensee becomes a chilly training zone. It freezes over in December – and remains wonderfully cold until April. Your very own personal freshness kick awaits right in front of the Kärntnerhof: cold and ice swimming in crystal-clear Lake Weissensee. From the first chilly days of fall right through to spring – if you’re brave (or want to be), you’ve come to the right place!

Ice bathing on Lake Weissensee - for all those who want to experience more of life.
Our own lakeside property with jetty makes it particularly easy and safe to get started. Whether you just want to try it out or slowly get used to the cold: Everything is possible, nothing is a must. And from 2025, there will be courses with experienced coaches – including breathing exercises using the Wim Hof method.
PS: did you know that the water of Lake Weissensee gets up to 26°C in summer? So all warm water lovers should rather come to Lake Weissensee for a swim in summer 🙂
Why ice bathing? Because it works!
Ice bathing strengthens the immune system, gets the circulation going and helps you to sharpen your body awareness. It not only promotes mental clarity and inner peace, but also has a mood-enhancing effect and gives you a real energy boost. Cold can do so much good!
After jumping into the cold, the reward awaits: a hot tea or fragrant coffee to warm you from the inside. Then it’s time to wrap up in a cuddly blanket and warm up by the fireplace or crackling fire bowl.
If you really want to get going, combine ice bathing with breathing techniques, walks in the winter landscape or a relaxing yoga session. Afterwards, it’s time to put on some comfy socks, grab a cup of tea and unwind.

From May 2025, we will be offering guided cold and ice bath workshops with breathing exercises using the Wim Hof method. The dates will be announced in good time here on the website and on our Facebook page.

Course of the cold and ice bathing weekend
Friday
Arrive. Take a deep breath. Set off.
On Friday you will be welcomed at the Seehotel Kärntnerhof. You will get to know the group in a relaxed atmosphere and, if you like, you can relax with a massage. Our masseuse will be on site all day for your individual time-out.
Saturday
Time for courage & mindset.
On Saturday, Wim Hof instructor Hans Lassnig-Walder introduces you to the power of the cold. Together with the group, you will learn breathing techniques, prepare yourself mentally and physically and finally go into the cold water – accompanied, safely and with mindfulness.
The session lasts approx. 3 to 4 hours and takes place in Lake Weissensee.
We guarantee: you will feel more alive afterwards than ever before!
Sunday
Movement & awareness.
We finish with a gentle yoga session on the lake – in the floating house right on the water. Here you take time for yourself once again, stretch, breathe and find your balance – accompanied by silence, a view of the lake and the feeling of having achieved something great.
